Coming up on April 19, Good Local Markets (formerly known as White Rock Local Market) is giving East Dallas neighbors the chance to prove it with its 5th annual Good Local Markets Chili Showdown at Vickery Meadow Market at 5803 E. Northwest Highway in the corner of the Half Price Books flagship store parking lot.

If you just want to enjoy someone else’s labor, swing by to savor public tastings from up to twenty teams from 1-3 p.m. If you’d like to participate, the entry fee is $25 per team, but participation is limited. To register online, go to www.GoodLocalMarkets.org. Tasting tickets can be purchased for $5 at the GLM information desk at the event.

Good Local Markets operates three farmer’s markets in Dallas and includes only local growers and makers. The Lakeside Market is on the first and third Saturday of the month at Lakeside Baptist Church (9150 Garland Road) and White Rock Market is the second and fourth Saturday at Green Spot Market and Fuels (702 N. Buckner Blvd.) from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.  The Vickery Meadow Market is from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. every Sunday at Half-Price Books (5803 W. Northwest Highway).
