Allred rode the DART rail with the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.

“We want to make sure that that national money comes to North Texas,” Allred told WFAA. “And so I wanted to show the secretary the good things that we’re doing here and the projects that we need to get that funding for.”

Federal funding could come from the $1 trillion infrastructure bill passed by the U.S. Senate on Aug. 10. It allocates money to rebuild roads and bridges and fund climate resilience and broadband programs.

Some ongoing projects are already funded with federal dollars. Twenty-eight train platforms are being extended on the red and blue lines, which costs $60 million. And money is also helping complete the rebuilding of Terminal C at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
