The last Albertsons grocery store in Dallas is located in Casa Linda. It is currently unclear whether or not that location will rebrand after the acquisition.

Tom Thumb, which is owned by Albertsons, is also included in the merger. The Tom Thumb locations in East Dallas are not expected to undergo any changes.

Kroger is the second-largest grocer in the United States, while Albertsons is fourth. The merger, which is valued at $24.6 billion, helps both entities compete with Walmart, the largest grocer by market share.

The deal was approved unanimously by the boards of both companies, but now it faces regulatory review. According to CNBC, when two large companies have overlapping markets, deals are more likely to get caught up in antitrust laws. Sometimes companies will shutter stores in areas where there is a lot of market overlap to avoid violating those laws.

The Albertsons in Casa Linda is relatively close to two other Kroger locations. It remains to be seen whether or not that store or either of the nearby Krogers will have to close to stay in accordance with antitrust laws.
