As we add years to our lives, the Greater Lakewood Shepherd Center helps add life to our years. Through its programs and activities, the GLSC offers companionship, learning, community involvement, volunteer opportunities and fun!

Our Adventures in Learning programs reflect the varied interests, skills and enthusiasms of our older adult members: travel, current events, arts, hobby skills, writing, drama, bridge, line dancing, choral singing, foreign languages – the list is almost endless. Since 1985, the GLSC – an independent, ecumenical, non-profit organization – has brought encouragement and stimulation to more than 1,400 area residents who wish to continue living full lives in their community.

Our programs depend on the skills, talents and experience of our members, who provide leadership, program coordination and office support. Membership is open to anyone 50 years of age or older.

Adventures in Learning is held Fridays for four semesters of eight weeks each at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 3204 Skillman. Members who pay the quarterly registration fee of $17 ($15 if paid before the cut-off date) also are eligible to participate in line dancing, Sharps and Flats chorus, Theater Goers and Dutch-treat Lunch Brunch. The Compassionate Companions program provides training and supervision for volunteer visitors to area nursing homes and long-term care facilities. There is no charge for Compassionate Companions membership.
