New bids for the White Rock Lake dredging project were received recently. After an initial evaluation, the apparent low bidder is Oscar Renda Contracting Inc.
There are five alternate bids that are additive to the base bid. If selected, the alternates will add additional dredging work to the base bid amount.
A low bidder will not be determined until the bidder evaluation process is complete. Staff already has begun the official tabulation of bids and bidder evaluation. This includes an official tabulation of the bids, review of the contractors’ qualifications and review of the contractors’ work plans to see if they comply with the contract specifications.
This will also include inspection of the actual equipment to be used on the project by the apparent low bidder.
The apparent low bidder proposes to complete the base bid plus alternates one, two, three and five within the project budget of $14.3 million. This is great news for all of you who have been following the lake project.
We are optimistic the City Council should be able to award one of these contracts in August. The dredging process should begin in early fall.
