I officially met Jill Kotvis at this week’s Lakewood Neighborhood Association meeting. She’s announced her candidacy for the district 9 seat (which I blogged about in a December post). Kotvis was very kind in informing me that Councilman Gary Griffith had invited her to his leadership council dinner, and had also told her if she didn’t announce that evening that she was running, he would.

I want to clarify — I didn’t mean by my post that Griffith was officially endorsing Sheffie Kadane; I simply was trying to point out that the two men are buddies, and many neighbors generally view him as Griffith’s man. (Case in point: Kotvis sat a few rows in front of me at the meeting, and Kadane and Griffith sat together a few rows behind me.)

But as for what that means to the race, I have no idea. Kotvis already has been passing out brochures and launched a website, both touting a long list of current and past civic volunteer positions. I know Kadane has his own list, and I would be happy to link to it as well, but I don’t think he has a campaign website. (I would love to be informed if I’m wrong.) Then of course there’s Albert Turner, who is making his third attempt at the district 9 seat. And there’s still plenty of time for others to jump in.

Anyone want to announce his or her candidacy on our blog?
