The Magdalen House, a place in East Dallas that helps women recover from alcoholism (we introduced you to some of the women who’ve found help there in this Advocate story) is suffering some lofty financial woes.
The Magdalen House facility, a big house in the Casa Linda area, is more than 50 years old and is in need of serious repair. “We suffered a major plumbing break earlier this month. There was 16” of water under the house and the damage is extensive … we filed a claim with the insurance company, and today we received a cancellation notice from them due to ‘Increased Hazard’,” a note from the Board of Directors states.
The board will file for grants, but is also pleading for public support. “Whether it be financial, donating renovation supplies, professional manual labor, contacting other supporters, or anything you feel would be helpful,” they say. “And, as always, a prayer that God continues to watch over Maggie’s is invaluable.”
