City Council member Angela Hunt is one of several civic leaders expected to hop on a bike for Cyclesomatic, a 10-day bicycle festival that’s based in Oak Cliff. Hunt, who represents part of East Dallas, is leading "Dallas Bikes to City Hall", along with Council members Delia Jasso, Dave Neumann and Ann Margolin, on Oct. 7. The festival’s organizers are asking that people from all over the city ride to City Hall that morning and meet on the plaza at 8:30 a.m.

The festival’s first event is a Friday night ride from downtown to the Texas Theater for a showing of the documentary B.I.K.E. The distance from Lakewood to the JFK Memorial Plaza, where the ride starts, is about 4 miles. And from there to the Texas Theater, it’s about 3 miles. So it’s about 14 miles round trip. But now that DART buses have those nifty bike racks on them, cheaters like me can take the No. 19 bus downtown, and reduce the pedaling by some 8 miles.
