Production and engineering experts, music technology gurus, and masters of the drum set will offer free workshops all weekend long. Get schooled by members of Polyphonic Spree and King Diamond to name a couple. (After the jump, the full schedule). Win prizes generously donated by Guitar Center, Dallas Stars and Good Records. All ages are welcome — but warning, it could get loud.

From the press release:

Saturday (10.10) 1-2 p.m. – Workshop w/ John Congleton. This will be a workshop that deals with studio recording, engineering, production, etc. This workshop will be for all ages, all levels and anyone who is curious in the recording / engineering / production process.

Sunday (10/11) 2-3:30 p.m. – Music Technology Clinic / Workshop – given by Mark Pirro (Tripping Daisy / Polyphonic Spree), Evan Hisey (Polyphonic Spree), Cory Helms (Back in Black / Polyphonic Spree) and our new music director, Ryan Fitzgerald (Polyphonic Spree). This clinic will focus on microphones that produce an "effected sound". Mark Pirro will bring several different mics and the kids will get a chance to sing through these mics and explore the color that they can add to vocal performance. Evan Hisey will bring in a laptop, a Korg vocoder, midi controller and some midi sequencing software. Ryan and Cory will be bringing every guitar effects processors known to man / woman. The overall goal will be to learn how to use these effects to produce different sounds other than clean and distortion. Guitar players can have different roles within the band besides just rhythm and lead. They can add different sound textures, too — bottom line, this will be an outstanding clinic.

4-5 p.m. – Drum Workshop / Master Class w/ Matt Thompson from King Diamond. We encourage EVERY drummer to attend this class. Will be for all ages and levels.
