With school starting on Aug. 26, most schools are gearing up to be back in session, and I would assume most parents are as well. Here’s three school news bites you should know:
- This Saturday, Aug. 24, the Long cheerleaders will have a car wash fundraiser at Burger House from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Support our feeder middle school and sport a super-clean car.
- Stonewall Gardens is still looking for a part-time helper to assist garden instructor Mark Painter. Painter is hoping to reduce his hours to 3 or 4 days a week, so Stonewall is searching for someone who can give him a hand. For anyone who might be interested in the opportunity, check out Stonewall Gardens’ website.
- Start stretching for the Long Run for J. L. Long Middle School. It’s coming up in October, and the deadline to register is in September. The Long Run is J. L. Long’s only fundraiser for to help pay for “extras” not supplied by Dallas ISD. The Race is Oct. 17, 2013. There’s a one mile fun run at 6 p.m., followed by the certified 5K run at 6:30 p.m. Plus, there will be food, fun and music for all.
