Longtime neighborhood residents know that neighborhood native Edie Brickell, of New Bohemians rock group fame and husband of singer Paul Simon, pops in from time to time. What I didn’t know was that another member of her band, Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, also was from the area. Albrecht was shot and killed Monday morning after what police described as an attempt to "break in" to the house of his girlfriend’s neighbor in the 9000 block of Santa Clara Drive near White Rock Lake (no one seems to know what he was really trying to do). The neighbor apparently thought Albrecht was a burglar, tried to fire a warning shot over the intruder’s head, and accidentally killed the six-foot, five-inch Albrecht.
