Day 2 of Texas Rangers baseball spring training in Surprise, Arizona, and despite all of the positive PR coming out of camp, this still looks like the same Rangers team to me. Batters are still swing at the first pitch, particularly with a runner on base, and the timely hits still aren’t falling. Today’s game against the Angels was close, a 2-0 Rangers loss, but the Rangers outhit the Angels while managing not to capitalize on any of the hits. And this was basically the Rangers opening-day lineup, lacking only currently slumping Hank Blalock. I guess the fact that the Rangers pitchers only gave up two runs (both on a home run in the 8th) is good news, except that the Angels didn’t bring the "A" team to the game. There was some good news for us: We managed to snag about a dozen balls hit over the fence in batting practice, so we had plenty of Rawlings Official Major League baseballs in the backpack for autographs. And we had an opportunity to stand next to Kameron Loe, C.J. Wilson, Akinori Otsuka, Michael Young and Jason Botts’ mom.
