Word comes that at least three crimes against persons (or I guess, more accurately, crimes against purses, cars and GPS systems) have been reported in the neighborhood over the past couple of days…

1) The Lakewood crime watch reports that a purse-snatching in front of Stein Mart at Mockingbird & Abrams occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Monday. A woman walking in one direction on the sidewalk passed a guy walking in the other direction; pretty soon, her purse was going his direction instead of hers. The thief bolted across Abrams, ducked behind Boston Market and disappeared.

2) On Tuesday at about 1 p.m., a car parked at the St. Thomas Aquinas lower school (the one by Luby’s, down the street from the Boston Market alley) wound up with a broken window after the mom/driver left her purse on the seat while she was on playground duty.

3) The Barking Dog, Avi Adelman, reports that one of his readers had a vehicle outfitted with a GPS system, a multi-screen DVD system, a few headsets and DVDs, Barbies, movies and more. Five minutes after parking in a secure lot near Lower Greenville around 8 on Monday, all she had left was a ripped up, vandalized vehicle.

Not much else to say, I guess, except Happy Holidays, and let’s be careful out there.
