East Dallas-based playwright and filmmaker Eric Steele’s newest play is set for a run at the Second Thought Theater in Addison July 15-Aug. 5.

It’s got a 12-word title: “Bob Birdnow’s Remarkable Tale of Human Survival and the Transcendence of Self”. Sounds good already, doesn’t it?

Here’s a synopsis:

“This piece tells the story of Bob Birdnow, a former pilot who endured a terrible tragedy: a plane crash that killed his closest friends and left him alive, though forever changed. In this one man show, Steele explores the connection between our own survival mechanism and our larger purpose on this earth as human beings.”

Steele is the guy who filmed an entire short, “Topeka” (which he wrote and directed), inside the Gold Rush Cafe. And he’s a partner in the Texas Theatre’s management company, Aviation Cinemas.
