Hot chicken restaurant Palmer’s in Lakewood launched a new breakfast menu.

Palmer’s opened in 2020 in Hillside Village on Mockingbird Lane and regularly offers hot chicken, catfish and shrimp to our neighborhood.

Patrons will be able to order eggs, pancakes, hot chicken and cheese biscuits, ham and cheese omelets, French toast, chicken and waffles, and huevos rancheros, according to a press release. The pancake flavors will include chocolate chip, blueberry, oat and plain, and there will also be a waffle bar with a range of toppings to select.

Breakfast was originally supposed to be served Wednesday through Sunday mornings, but the plan is now to offer breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays only. More days could be added in the future based on demand.

Diners are especially encouraged to try the pancakes since the menu is derived from Palmer’s Georgian sister restaurant, whose pancakes were featured on Travel + Leisure’s “25 Best Places to Eat Pancakes in America” list that was updated in 2023. One of the specialty dishes expected to be on the menu is Buddy’s Banana Pudding Pancakes, complete with crusted Nilla Wafers, according to the press release.

Another one of the specialty items is the Hot Chick-in-Pancake Poppers, a Big Tex Choice Awards finalist at last year’s State Fair of Texas. It includes balls of hot chicken and pimento cheese that are dipped in pancake batter, deep-fried and topped with sriracha honey and Nashville hot powdered sugar, according to the press release.
