“We’re excited to open in a part of town that we know and love,” one of the founders Jordan Carson said in a press release. “With neighbors like Tecovas, Rancher Hat Bar and McKinney Hat Company, it’s the perfect stretch of Dallas to celebrate boots, brisket, sports and a damn good time. Stop by after shopping for a drink, catch your favorite game and grab some Texas-style food that hits the spot.”

The original Dudley’s opened last year in Rockwall. Founded by Texas natives Carson, Gabriel Rhodes and Patrick Gorman, the sports bar is named after Carson’s great-grandfather who used to own the land where the Rockwall location is, according to the press release.

Dudley’s on Henderson is expected to be decked out in western decor, like cowhide booths and animal mounts, according to the press release. In addition, the patio will be turfed, the bar will be topped with pennies and Dallas artist Jonathan Freeman was brought in to create a custom mural.

Executive Chef Eric Freidline, who heads up the culinary program at the original Dudley’s, is a managing partner at the new location in our neighborhood. Freidline, who received 2019 Rising Star Chef of the Year at the Tastemaker Awards, has worked in East Dallas before at Lakewood’s former Petra and the Beast as well as Chamberlain’s, Sevy’s Grill and Monarch.

“We’re serving food that’s rooted in local flavor,” Freidline said in the press release. “From our ‘Old School Wagyu Burger’ to ‘Smoked Brisket Deviled Eggs’ and our 24-hour brined ‘Smoked Half Chicken’ with roasted poblano polenta, everything on the menu is full of flavor and easy to love. It’s the kind of food people come back for.”

Flavors on the menu will be aided by a wood-fired grill — hence why Freidline described some dishes as “smoked.”

“It’s the kind of grill that brings big flavor to every bite — whether it’s the signature chicken fried steak smothered in peppered cream gravy or one of the rotating grilled specials on the menu,” Freidline said in the press release.

Dudley’s also plans to pay tribute to Dallas culinary institutions Jimmy’s Food Store in our neighborhood and Kuby’s by highlighting curated meats from those places in the Texas-Sized Charcuterie Board, according to the press release.

As for the “sports” part of this “sports bar,” Dudley’s will be outfitted with “41 flat-screen TVs, multiple LED video walls and a continuous sports ticker wrapping the front bar with real-time score updates,” according to the press release. Which sports will be shown? All of them, Dudley’s said. For non-sports fans, there’s a second bar and lounge in the back that can be used as a private-event space, and activities like live music, trivia, poker night and music bingo will be offered.

Dudley’s is at 2927 N. Henderson Ave., the northwest end of the street by the highway in what used to be Smithy on Henderson. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, with brunch on weekends from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
