Snarf’s is coming to Lakewood.
What is a Snarf’s? It’s a chain of sandwich shops that originated in Boulder, Colorado, in 1996 by Jimmy Seidel, whose nickname was Snarf, according to the Snarf’s Sandwiches website. Now, there are multiple Snarf’s Sandwiches locations in Colorado, Missouri and Texas.
Currently, the Texas shops are centered around Austin, but Snarf’s Sandwiches’ presence in Dallas is about to grow significantly. In addition to the Lakewood Shopping Center, the sandwich chain’s website indicates that locations are planned for Far North Dallas, Park Cities and near Dallas Love Field Airport.
The Snarf’s Sandwiches in our neighborhood is coming to 1908 Abrams Parkway, hopefully by the end of the year, Marketing Director Helen Wood said. The space wasn’t previously used as a restaurant, so it will need to be renovated to operate accordingly.
Fun fact: we’re not the only Lakewood getting a Snarf’s. Lakewood, Colorado, (just west of Denver) is also getting a new location, according to the Snarf’s Sandwiches website. Nevertheless, our Lakewood seems to have won over some of the decision-makers at Snarf’s.
“We fell in love with the Lakewood neighborhood,” Wood said when discussing the Abrams Parkway location. “The historic homes, walkable streets and strong sense of community make it truly special. The Lakewood Shopping Center has a vibrant retail presence and consistent foot traffic, all within a charming, village-style setting. We believe our sandwich shop will fill right in.”
But what about the food?
“We are known for our hot toasted subs that are made to order on our signature bread,” Wood said. “We use high-quality fresh ingredients. Our meats, cheeses and vegetables are hand-sliced daily. We have a proprietary blend of giardiniera peppers that tend to be a big hit. They’re great on any sandwich! Our Italian is our top seller with salami, pepperoni, capicola, mortadella and provolone with all the toppings. Other favorites are our Pastrami & Swiss, Meatball Parm and French Dip. We have plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free options. We also do a lot of catering, so it’s a great option for meetings and events.”
As such, Snarf’s hopes to appeal to people in our neighborhood, both residents and workers, who enjoy quality sandwiches.
“We’re excited to bring a high-quality sandwich option to Lakewood,” Wood said. “But beyond great food, we plan to be a positive part of the neighborhood. Supporting the local community is a big part of who we are, whether it’s through school fundraisers, local partnerships or just being a place where people feel welcome.”
