Five duck-shaped inflatables, an alligator pool float and small rubber duckies glided in the water neighbors have named “Lake Casa View,” Channel 5 NBCDFW reported. Residents also placed “B” and “G” piñatas on the bank of the pond to imitate the BIG signs around town at Dallas attractions.

Neighbors organized the mock pool party Sunday through a Facebook event called “Luau at Lake Casa View.” Organizers provided food from local restaurants and a chance for residents to vent their frustration.

The multimillion dollar project to revitalize Casa View has been under construction for more than a year, and it’s not expected to be complete until January 2021, according to Channel 11 CBSDFW.

District 9 Councilman Mark Clayton said rainy weather, old infrastructure and problems with the contractor have delayed the project. However, he told CBSDFW that the plans for new infrastructure are already drawing businesses to the area.

“I’m hopeful, but there are plenty of people who aren’t holding their breath,” neighbor Taylor Slovak told the station. “They’re exhausted by it all.”
