Ten local artists have been selected to participate in the Sounds of Deep Ellum live album project.
The artists also are each receiving a $1,000 grant from Deep Ellum 100, an organization that supports the small businesses, artists, service workers and musicians who form the core of the historical neighborhood.
Musicians chosen to participate include:
- Cure for Paranoia
- Lorelei K
- Stone Mecca
- Children of Indigo
- Flowerchild
- Maya Piata
- Memory Shivers
- Ducato Vega
- Skinny Cooks
- Labretta Suede
They will be recording Sounds of Deep Ellum live at Trees Dallas on Oct. 5. Each musician will perform three songs, and one will be included on the album. It will be released as a limited-edition vinyl through Idol Records, and it is helping to commemorate Deep Ellum’s 150th anniversary.
