School officials distributed the 75 meal bags and 150 snack bags Thursday before students left for their three-week vacation, said Michelle Marketos, one of three coordinators for Woodrow’s Peace Pantry.

Marketos and the other coordinators work with community groups to stock the pantry, and the school identifies students who may need supplemental food over breaks. Blow Salon, located at 5770 Abrams Road, paid for the Christmas bags for the second year in a row.

The pantry not only provides meals during breaks, but it supplies uniforms, coats, snacks and toiletries that students can pick up daily at school.

Similar programs exist at J.L. Long Middle School and Geneva Heights Elementary School, and there are plans to expand to other schools in the feeder pattern,Marketos said.
