DISD Deputy Chief of Communications Robyn Harris said the student is expected to make a full recovery after “sustaining cuts”.

The other student involved has been taken into DISD police custody.

DISD police are conducting an investigation of the altercation between the students. Harris, after noticing discourse online, wanted to make it clear that words like ‘stabbing’ are not representative of what may have transpired between the students.

“We’re still trying to learn exactly what happened,” she said. “Oftentimes misinformation or information can be shared much quicker than the process is allowed to play out.”
