Here are a few not-so-random musings concerning Woodrow Wilson High School …

• Associate principal Dinnah Escanilla has been named one of five finalists for DISD associate principal of the year. Escanilla has been involved in helping push the dual-credit program at Woodrow, along with helping boost the number of seniors applying for college. More than 140 seniors (of about 300 expected to graduate) have been accepted to post-secondary institutions.

• Woodrow’s Class of 2012 is hosting a giant garage sale Saturday at the YMCA at White Rock from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. All kinds of stuff is expected to be on sale as the class raises money for its senior year events. I personally know of a 36-inch tube TV manufactured by RCA but with a DISH logo on it that works great if you happen to have enough room for it in your house.

•The State Fair of Texas awarded scholarships this week to seniors from five DISD high schools near Fair Park, including Irma Rangel, James Madison, Lincoln, North Dallas and, of course, Woodrow. Among the Wildcats receiving renewable scholarships (the students have to attend a secondary institution in Texas to be eligible for a scholarship) are Justin Bailey, Valerie Gamez, Cole Heiner, Nick Muston, Alicia Santana, Lauren Tepera and Emily Young.
