The name of the game in high schools these days is preparing students for college, and Woodrow Wilson was honored recently as DISD’s only high school to receive the Texas ACT Council’s "2009 College Readiness Award", according to Woodrow associate principal Dinnah Escanilla. The Texas ACT Council recognized Woodrow for increasing the number of students taking the ACT Assessment test during the past five years, as well as boosting the students’ level of achievement and college readiness, Escanilla says. The Texas Act Council says less than 5% of Texas high schools qualified for the award.
