Woodrow Wilson High School received a $1,500 grant from Carter BloodCare’s Great Grants Program, which rewards schools that replenish the community’s blood supply by hosting blood drives.

The grant will be presented Oct. 21 at the school’s first blood drive of the fall semester.

Ranging from $500 to $2,500, the grants are awarded to public and private high schools if they meet certain criteria. If a school has previously organized a Carter BloodCare drive, they must:

  • Meet blood donor number goal
  • Attend or host a Great Leader event
  • Host a minimum of three drives, two of which must be during the school year and during school hours

Blood drives at Woodrow and other high schools contribute more than 20 percent of annual donations to the community’s blood supply.
