More than 20 freestanding emergency rooms in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will become licensed outpatient departments of City Hospital at White Rock, a health spokeswoman said.
The 22 emergency rooms, which will be renamed City Hospital Emergency Care, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staffed with board-certified physicians, each clinic will have an on-site lab and radiology suite complete with digital X-ray and ultrasound machines and a CT scanner, according to a news release.
The venture comes through a partnership with Lewisville-based Adeptus Health and Pipeline Health, a community-based hospital ownership and management company headquartered in Los Angeles. Pipeline entered the DFW market when it agreed to buy City Hospital at White Rock from Baylor Scott & White Health in December 2017, the Dallas Morning News reported.
“We’re confident our personalized approach to ER care through the City Hospital Emergency Care facilities will be a win-win for everyone, including patients, physicians and other caregivers,” Pipeline President Mark Bell said in a statement.
The Morning News reported that the stand-alone facilities aim to make emergency care more accessible, but they are not always the cheapest option. And confusion about what differentiates them from an urgent care still persists.
The City Hospital Emergency Care network will provide care at the following locations:
