The nonprofit organization owns the entire building, and when Sali’s left, they saw an opportunity to stretch out into the adjacent restaurant space. Executive Director Ted Beechler says that the added space will allow them to expand their retail efforts, move offices, increase storage and improve flow for those seeking services.

White Rock Center of Hope formed almost 30 years ago when area churches came together to provide for those in need in the White Rock area. The center offers clothes, food, rent assistance, transportation payments and self-sufficiency programs to community members.

The center is staffed almost completely by their 250 volunteers, and the services are mostly funded by a thrift store at the front of the property that faces Garland Road. Today, the center’s supporters are wide ranging and include churches, businesses and schools.

“Weā€™re excited about the opportunity to better serve our community through this expansion,” says Dr. Chuck Kobdish, a member of the center’s board of directors.

If you have a hankering for Sali’s Pizza, you can still visit their original location at 1238 Belt Line Road in Garland.
