The branding looks a little different, but we’ve confirmed it’s the same team. The folks who brought White Rock Alehouse & Brewery to East Dallas’ Arboretum Village have plans for a second space on Beckley at Commerce, an area of new development aiming to serve the beer- and pizza-lovers of Oak Cliff, West Dallas and beyond.

Their White Rock Brewing Co. is adjacent to The Langford community and part of the West Commerce Gateway, a mixed-use outfit which includes about 315 apartment units and 12,700 square feet of single-story freestanding restaurant and retail space.

Commercial spaces here are organized around a central garden and gathering area along Beckley, from where patrons can enjoy unobstructed views of the Downtown Dallas skyline. “Parking is shared in the apartment parking garage to promote an urban streetscape between the apartment and retail buildings,” they note on the website.

Lake Highlands residents Dave Kirk and Greg Nixon opened the White Rock Alehouse in East Dallas in 2017.

Kirk says the new Beckley brewery will be a second location and that the East Dallas alehouse isn’t going anywhere, despite recent struggles related to intersection reconfiguration at Gaston-Garland-Grand.

“We are working hard to get the new location open on Beckley,” Kirk says. “We are looking forward to being a part of West Dallas and serving the quickly growing area.”

The East Dallas location has been a hub for cyclists and runners — people park at the shopping center, go exercise and swing by the alehouse after.

The Beckley brewery is across the street from Trinity Skyline Trail and the Trinity Overlook, so it promises the same type of atmosphere (with less traffic jams).

We don’t have an exact opening day, but signage and a Facebook page went up in recent weeks.
