Mother and daughter Linda and Lynette Page qualified for and recently raced the Ironman Triathlon 70.3 in Las Vegas. Linda started racing following her involvement in post-9-11 aid.

Mother daughter Linda and Lynette Page recently completed the Ironman World Championship 70.3 race in Las Vegas. Not just anyone can do this event, and I don’t just mean the 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run. One actually has to qualify for this particular triathlon and only previously proven, superior athletes in each age group are even allowed to enter the championship event.

The Pages do much of their running and cycling training at White Rock Lake, which is close to home for the area residents.

A little back story on mom Linda: She was a first-responder following the 9-11 attack. In order to participate in the efforts, she had to get a smallpox vaccination to which she had an adverse reaction that caused a heart condition. In an attempt to strengthen her damaged heart, she took up racing.

The Las Vegas race coincidentally, and not unnoticed by the family, took place this past Sept. 11.
