With only 29 days left before Dallas transforms into a green city, here’s what to expect from the annual event this year.

The parade, or what neighbors call “Dallas’ Mardi Gras,” will take place March. 16. Attendees can expect the usual eclectic experience featuring nearly 100 colorful floats, food trucks, music, local vendors and family-friendly activities.

The parade route starts on Greenville Avenue at Blackwell Street and ends at SMU Boulevard at Central Expressway.

Though the parade is free to attend, it’s vital to get to the site early as the event averages over 1,000 visitors, parade chairman Kevin Vela said. Parking is limited, he recommends parade-goers use DART or third-party transportation this day.

For those 21 and up, don’t miss out on the Lower Greenville St. Patrick’s Block Party. The block party, as neighbors suggest, is an opportunity to try new bars, enjoy live music, make new friends and people-watch.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the block party will take place at 2908 Greenville Ave. with free shuttling from Mockingbird Station.

And don’t forget to bring cash. Gate admission is $20 cash upon entry. Credit and Debit payments will be accepted inside bars and restaurants. Multiple beer tents will be available accepting cash only.

ATMs are available at each gate entry and throughout the grounds.

Backpacks, large purses, containers, pets and coolers are not allowed.

Participating bars and restaurants include:

Dodie’s Reef

The Dubliner

Stan’s Blue Note

Terrilli’s

Halcyon

Christies Sports Bar

Sister Restaurant
