Here are a few ideas.

Pride in Bloom

Printmaking with Jose Vargas

This adult art class takes place June 10 at the Bath House Cultural Center at White Rock Lake. Attendees will get hands-on experience with silkscreen printing and block printing.

Participants are asked to dress appropriately and with ink in mind. Each attendee will leave the class with their creations.

The class is open for 12 participants, and registration is free. For more information visit the BHCC website or contact Vargas at jvargas898@earthlink.net.

Dallas ISD Runoff Election

The Dallas ISD District 2 Board of Trustees runoff election is June 10. Jimmy Tran and Sarah Weinberg are running for the position.

Lakewood Elementary and Lakewood Library will be open Saturday as voting locations. A full list of voting locations can be found on the Dallas County Election Department website or the Dallas ISD page. Voters should bring a photo ID or voter registration card.

Shoreline Spruce Up

Join For the Love of the Lake for their Second Saturday cleanup 8 a.m.-12 p.m. June 10. Volunteers can pick up supplies at the FTLOTL office and help beautify White Rock Lake. Volunteers can help on foot or by water through the Padillacs program, which has a separate sign up and starting location.

Padillacs allows volunteers to use kayaks and canoes to pick up trash that is not reachable from the shore. FTLOTL has six canoes and three kayaks available, but volunteers may bring their own to the event. No sign up is necessary for walking volunteers; however, Padillacs requires liability and DPARD Special Volunteer Events waivers.

The For the Love of the Lake office is located at 1152 N. Buckner Blvd.

Led by Abby Allen of Oil and Cotton, this class is for children ages 2-4. Classes are available June 10 at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Parents are asked to stay nearby as their kids learn about color, art vocabulary and materials.

Registration for the event is free, and more details can be found on the Bath House and Cultural Center website.
