Saturday, Dec. 31—New Year’s Eve morning marks the annual Loop-the-Lake — White Rock Lake, that is — run. Take a preemptive strike at those champagne calories you’re bound to consume later on. It begins at 7 a.m. at The Lot, on the southwest side of White Rock Lake and benefits Marathon Kids, an organization aimed at eliminating childhood obesity. Participation is free, and donations go to the nonprofit. Hang around afterward for food, drinks and door prizes.

Sons of Hermann Hall host their annual New Year’s Eve party from 7 p.m. to midnight. Expect to dance the night away to the music of the Waller Creek Vipers.
