Tami Walker, a financial literacy teacher, was honored for her dedication to students. Like many teachers, she buys supplies for students with her own money to ensure their success. “If a pencil is going to keep them from being successful throughout the day, no need,” she says in a video highlighting her work.

Neighborhood mom and Charles Schwab financial advisor Emily Harwood, whose own children are headed to Long, got word of Walker’s generosity and wanted to thank her.

“She had no idea what was coming,” she says.

Walker was awarded $10,000 from Charles Schwab, and her class was treated to a Rangers game as a part of the gift. The video captures Walker opening the envelope with the gift, as well as the pep rally held in her honor.

“We are going to help you do a lot of good stuff, because you do a lot of good stuff,” Harwood tells her.

“I cant believe someone is willing to help us that much. My kids are going to be the real winners,” Walker says.
