Reliant Energy is hosting a Festival of Lights contest for the best holiday lighting, and three of the finalists are in our neighborhood.
You have until 5:30 p.m. today to vote via Facebook for your favorite holiday lighting. The winner, which will ultimately be selected by a panel of local media judges, will be announced tomorrow during the Festival of Lights block party at Lakewood Theater.
The three Lakewood entries are “Energy Efficient Newlyweds” in Hollywood Heights, “The Mitchell Christmas Wonderland” in Junius Heights, and “The ‘Griswolds’ of the M-Streets.”
The Reliant Festival of Lights is a holiday lighting contest which awards a $10,000 home energy makeover to the homeowner who decorates their home with the most creativity and style using energy-efficient technology. In addition, a $1,000 Lowes gift card will be awarded to the home with the most “likes” on Reliant’s Facebook page.
The block party is at Lakewood Theater is a free community event and will feature entertainment from local schools, including Mata Elementary String Orchestra and the J.L. Long Middle School Choir, food, hot cocoa and family activities.
If you want to go to the block party, it’s Tuesday, December 18 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Lakewood Theater, 1825 Abrams Road. But even if you don’t go to the block party, you can still pop over to Reliant’s Facebook page and vote for your favorite holiday lighting.
