Last week Tasby Middle School students in the Vickery Meadow area of Dallas, a densely populated community between East Dallas and Lake Highlands, showcased their neighborhood along with photos they snapped as part of the Photovoice project, which we mentioned last week.

Photovoice is part of a partnership between the Injury Prevention Center of Greater Dallas (at Parkland Hospital) and the Vickery Meadow Youth Development Foundation.

Photoview participants learn from professional photographers and then employ those skills, capturing images of their community. Often those images highlight structural, criminal and/or safety related problem areas. Among other things, the hoped-for result is neighborhood improvement.
