Dallas charter school, Uplift Education, will unveil a new campus, Uplift Luna, a consolidated and revitalized version of both its Downtown Dallas and Deep Ellum learning center. The new educational facility will host its official ribbon cutting on Thursday, Jan. 18, at 9743 E RL Thornton Fwy.Â
The K-12 campus utilizes design concepts that foster social-emotional learning for students, teachers, and staff to improve their well-being.
To construct this space, Uplift Education collaborated with the Center for Advanced Design Research and Evaluation (CADRE) and HKS, funded by the ASID Foundation. Which helped in conducting pre- and post-studies on the benefits of social-emotional learning and its correlation with school environments.Â
Uplift completed construction of its new campus on Jan. 3, a day before students returned to classes from winter break.Â
The modern campus includes floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light, ergonomic workstations, increased green spaces and new technology.
Additional features include:
- Central outdoor college-style quad area for community engagement.
- A dedicated road to its college and career wing.
- Larger classrooms with a maintained student-teacher ratio.
- Enhanced security measures.
- 14,000-square-foot UIL gym.
- 14,000-square-foot cafeteria.
- Full-size playfield for soccer and other sports.
- Clear use of colors and landmarks with signage for enhanced navigation.
- 345 parking spaces with car line queues.
Before Luna’s reveal, RXR Realty, a New York real estate investor, acquired 2625 Elm St. as a residential development project for the company.
The century-old real estate, which housed Uplift Education in Deep Ellum, will eventually be transformed into modern apartments after tearing down parts of the building.
