Francisco Montez, 24, faces a Capital Murder charge along with 21-year-old Genaro Rivera in connection with the deadly robbery on Sept. 1.

The preliminary investigation found Montez to be the suspect that shot and killed 52-year-old David Ruback, a uniformed armored car guard last month in East Dallas. The investigation also determined Rivera as the driver of the vehicle involved in the homicide.

On Sept. 1, at around 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a shooting on 100 block of South Carroll Avenue.

Investigators discovered that Ruback and his partner were in the process of making a cash delivery to a local business when two gunman arrived in a white Chevrolet Impala. The two male suspects were dresses in dark-colored clothing, black masks, dark gloves and what appeared to be body armor in the surveillance footage.

According to police, when Ruback turned away to walk towards the door, the unknown suspect, now identified as Francisco Montez, also approached the door and is believed to have “shot and killed” him. He then picked up the courier bag of cash and vacated the scene where Rivera is believed to be the driver in the white Chevrolet Impala.

Dallas Police continued to ask for the public’s help in identifying the two suspects involved in the homicide. GardaWorld Cash offered a $50,000 reward for any information. The Ruback family added an additional $5,000 reward for information as well.
