The North Texas Now television show, produced by Television-Radio-Film students at University of North Texas, rivals many things we see on mainstream TV news shows these days. And the best part is, they focus on things we really like around here: food, arts and entertainment in the Dallas area. In fact, episode 20 is set at White Rock’s Arboretum and entitled “A Summer Day in Dallas”.

In it, co-hosts UNT students Adam Hasley and Kristin Diaz interview Advocate food blogger Candace Tharp, who also has her own blog at thejunkfoodie.blogspot.com. She shares about her current favorite (for-culinary-purposes) neighborhood (hint it’s initials are O.C.), her favorite restaurant (also in O.C.) and her least favorite Dallas dining experience (hint: Greenville Ave.). Her segment begins at about minute 13 of the video below.

Oh, before I forget: Candace is giving away a $50 dining certificate to one of her blog readers when she hits 100 followers.

Also in the episode, Clay Barton of Dallas Comedy House talks improv (2:00) and right after that, Studio Movie Grill’s Ted Low talks about SMG with a Twist. There’s also a package about Highland Park Pharmacy (20:00) and JD’s Chippery (22:40) – mmm!
