The fast-casual restaurant with a focus on healthy food opened in 2015 at Lakewood Shopping Center.

Unleavened shared news of its closure on social media.

“And that’s a wrap,” the post says. “Unleavened has officially closed its doors after an amazing 7+ years of service to our community, friends, supporters and wonderful staff. Thank you for all playing a part in our story. We are truly grateful for the opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed the adventure.”

Unleavened was located where Beads of Splendor used to be, before that store moved to Garland Road. Before the restaurant opened, the space was renovated, and a patio was added.

“It’s important to us that our guests feel at home and comfortable, yet we also want the space to be interesting,” Unleavened co-founder Scott Piland said in 2015. Piland, who has a background in private equity and real estate finance, and fellow co-founder Tom Dynan, who has experience in the restaurant industry, were mutual friends before they became business partners.

The restaurant served breakfast all day, plus wraps, soups, salads, bowls and smoothies.

Unleavened expanded to Southlake in 2017 but closed that store two years later, Southlake Style reported. Another location opened at The Hill in Lake Highlands, but that one closed and has since been replaced with Soul Bird.
