Located at 5151 Samuell near I-30 and Ferguson, the 50,000 square-foot Unleashed Indoor Dog Parks — featuring 25,000 square-feet of indoor parks, 2.5 acres of exterior parks, water features, a full dog supply store, café, doggie salon, dog daycare and lounge areas — will be open year round from early mornings ‘til late nights. Entry will cost $7.50 per dog per day with no charge to humans.

Read answers to the Frequently Asked Questions for a lot of little tidbits about the way things will work.

According to a press release, the founders of Unleashed noted the high demand and relative lack of user friendliness at other area dog parks, hence the idea for the indoor facilities.

After wondering over the cost of the project ($10 million) and its (aforementioned) size, my next thought is admittedly “pee-eew, won’t it stink in there?” Nope, they say, the founders have that all figured out. “It is over-engineered to ensure a fresh environment for pets and their owners,” they say.  (And I’m not SURE what that means but the important part is that they promise the place won’t reek.)

Gibson, the world’s tallest dog will make an appearance at the Grand Opening March 28 from 11 a.m. -5 p.m.

As promised, more about the pit bull ban below.

And yes, when I thought this would be a non-controversial little write up about a lavish new canine utopia, I find out it’s exclusive. The owners have decided to ban pit bulls from the park area following an attack the first day of the soft opening. They cite insurance as the official reason for the ban. Further precautions include things such as checking proof of vaccination; and don’t expect your hound to get in without the proper tags.
