We are officially in the holiday season, and I hope you were able to enjoy Thanksgiving time with loved ones. Here is the latest Dallas ISD news:   

Applications for Specialty Schools and Programs Open:  If your child or a student you know is interested in applying for a specialized program in Dallas ISD, such as a magnet or choice school or program, you can start the application process today! Explore the diverse range of unique educational choices available to our students and find the best fit for your child.   

Dallas ISD Elementary and Middle Schools Ranked Nationally: This month, U.S. News and World Report released its rankings for top elementary and middle schools in the nation, and more than 108 Dallas ISD schools were in the top 40% with many in the top 10% as well!  

Career Institutes Providing Preparation for High-Demand Careers Dallas ISD students choosing the Career Institutes pathway take core classes at their chosen comprehensive high school while selecting high-wage, high-demand, high-skill career certification programs of study as electives which they pursue two half days per week at one of three centrally located Career Institutes.  

D2 Bond Construction Updates: Campus infrastructure upgrades funded by the proceeds from the 2020 Bond continue across the district.  Dallas ISD has a dedicated 2020 Bond website chock full of detailed information!  

November Board Meeting Debrief: 

Academic Achievement Update: College, Career and Military Readiness: This month’s academic achievement presentation focused on our board’s goal of making sure students graduate ready for college or career.  Dallas ISD is on track with these goals and is closing achievement gaps between student groups.  Of note, over 65% of Class of 2023 students who were enrolled in P-TECH and Early College Programs earned an associate degree and/or 60+ college-level hours, exceeding expectations. 

Introducing the 2023-2024 Campus Teachers of the Year    

Congratulations to all District 2 Campus Teachers of the Year! Each honoree will have the opportunity to apply for the Dallas ISD Teacher of the Year award. Check out the full list here 

Sound financial management: The district’s annual audit concluded with zero findings, in keeping with the three previous years.  In addition, the Texas Education Agency awarded Dallas ISD an annual FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) rating of “superior,” the highest rating available for financial solvency.
