Congratulations to District 2 teachers of the year!

Great teachers are the soul of an enlightened society. We entrust in you the most precious thing we know in life — our children. Thank you for your dedication in helping all students succeed.

Here are the District 2 teachers of the year:

  • Lon Thrasher, Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory Academy
  • Brooke Hernandez, Mockingbird Elementary School
  • Lisa Cashion, Longfellow Middle School
  • Lizette Gonzalez, Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy
  • Anais Gonzalez, Hillcrest High School

Each honoree has the opportunity to apply to be considered for the District teacher of the year honor. Based on the teachers’ applications, the District selection committee will name nine finalists from three categories by campus type and school level. One winner will be selected to represent the elementary, secondary and choice/magnet campuses. The finalists and winners will be honored at a special event in the spring.

Congratulations, and thank you for inspiring our children!
