Our story in May’s Advocate details some of the changes planned for schools in the Woodrow Wilson High School feeder pattern over the next few years. The goal is to give families more choices, and eventually, we could have a situation in which the elementary school boundaries “don’t matter,” as Vince Murchison puts it in the story.

These plans to boost curriculum at neighborhood schools have been years in the making, says Tracie Fraley, executive director of the Woodrow feeder pattern.

“We’re very committed to, ‘Let’s do this right, let’s do this well,’ ” she says. “The superintendent is rolling out school choice, and we want to be the model for that.”

The details are still in draft form — the Dallas ISD school board decides on budgets for such programs — but this is the tentative timeline.

Woodrow Wilson High School

• Humanities strand overarching the current academic tracks at Woodrow, which include international baccaulaureate (IB); science, technology, engineering and math (STEM); performing arts; and business leadership
