Tietze Shred 

The 16th annual document destruction event and fundraiser for Friends of Tietze Park is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. March 25 at the parking lot of Skillman Church, 3014 Skillman St.

Each standard banker’s box or bag is $7, but 10 or more boxes or bags are $5 each. Seniors get a discount, at $6 per box.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Skillman Church.

Tree planting 

Volunteer with Dallas Park and Recreation to plant trees at Lochwood Park. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon on March 25. Sign up here.

Pitmaster University at Oak’d BBQ

Chef Michael Lane will teach participants the basics of barbecue, including how to select and trim meat, control temperatures and timing, and master rubs, seasonings and marinades.

Tickets for the class, scheduled for 8-9:30 a.m. March 25 at Oak’d in Old Town on Greenville Avenue, cost $99 and may be purchased here.

Mind Over Murder! at Bath House Cultural Center 

This family friendly play presented by Pegasus Theatre is at the Bath House Cultural Center this weekend. It will be presented in RadioVizion, a technique devised by the Pegasus Theatre that aims to recreate the experience of being in a live radio studio of the 1930s and 1940s, including sound effects, actors at period-style live microphones and period-specific costumes.

Visit neighborhood markets

There are many outdoor markets this weekend across East Dallas.

Deep Ellum Outdoor Market: As part of the 150th anniversary of the neighborhood, there will be an outdoor market from noon to 6 p.m. March 25, featuring over 40 vendors, along with other activities for the whole family.

Good Local Markets recently opened its season. Find vendors at White Rock United Methodist Church from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. On Sunday, the Lakewood Village farmers market is held 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the southeast corner of Mockingbird Lane and Abrams.

The Underground Market: Woodrow Wilson High School alumni started these Lower Greenville markets. They’re open noon-6 p.m. Saturday at 5600 Alta Ave. and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at 5700 Oram St.
