Through Tuesday, students from three of our neighborhood’s public schools are battling it out with machinery in the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship in Louisville, Ky. The teams hail from Alex Sanger Elementary, Casa View Elementary and W.H. Gaston Middle School.

During the competition, they’ll face off against other school teams in a set of challenges meant to test their skills in engineering and mechanical design. More than 10,000 educational teams (elementary to college) from 32 countries took part in some of the 750 competitions across the world in the past year to earn their spot at the championship.

The East Dallas teams join two other DISD teams at the rigorous competition, who both hail from Winnetka Elementary School in Oak Cliff.
