White Rock Lake will once again welcome the gleaming mahogany hulls of antique and classic boats of the 1930’s – 1950’s at the White Rock Boat Club, 340 East Lawther Drive, on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The display, hosted by the White Rock Boat Club, is open and free to the public. White Rock Boat Club will also be hosting an open house that day with members available to answer questions about sailing and boating on White Rock Lake. An added feature of the open house will be a display of wooden sailboats built by members of the White Rock Boat Club. 97This Sunday, Sept.28, join Garden Café for its Bangarang Ball, a wild and crazy dinner set in an environment that draws its inspiration from Neverland and other strange places. From 6 p.m. to 12 a.m., the restaurant’s kitchen garden will be transformed. The slightly wacky, definitely exciting, menu will complement the truly unique aesthetics of Ben Lewis, who will create a carnival fit for the Lost Boys. On Saturday, Sept. 27, the Creative Arts Center is hosting a fundraiser, the Blue Plate Special, which will be held from 7-10 p.m. at PV14HousePV14House is an exciting new residence made from 14 shipping containers overlooking downtown Dallas and White Rock Lake. The night will featuring jazz, food, drinks and a silent auction highlighted by artist-designed ceramic plates paired with gifts and gift certificates. The East Dallas Boys & Girls Club Advisory Council is hosting its annual event, the Foodiepalooza on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Times Ten Cellars. Join critically acclaimed chef and James Beard Award semifinalist, John Tesar, of Spoon Bar & Kitchen and Knife, for food, fun, music and wine. As part of a grassroots effort, volunteers from the entire DFW area will come together to make superhero capes to bring happiness to children who are fighting their own super villains every day — in the form of illness. In a growing community effort, Union Coffee has donated their urban space to house sewing teams and promote donations for the cause. This is the last weekend, Sept. 27 to visit the Bath House Cultural Center to see “Split Seconds,” an exhibit presented as part of the center’s Curate+Collaborate Exhibition Series. This is also the last weekend, through Sept. 27 to see ‘Refreshing Journey’ at the White Rock Lake Museum in the Bath House Cultural Center. ‘Refreshing Journey’ is an exhibition of drawings inspired by White Rock Lake from Dallas artist Jenny Hong DeLaughter.
