This weekend, Nov. 13-15, get a peek inside some of the most breathtaking and unusual properties in East Dallas during the 39th annual Lakewood Home Festival, which benefits the Lakewood Early Childhood PTA and is sponsored by the Advocate. During the three days of events, attendees can take part in the lavish Auction Night Party on Friday ($125-$250); tour the myriad homes included this year ($15-$20); or upgrade to a candlelight home visit, with a chance to share a glass of wine with the homeowners ($30). Locations vary. This week on Nov. 12-15 is the second-annual Stars & Stripes Film Festival, produced by Sons of the Flag, features about a dozen films and a lunch with guest speaker U.S. Army Gen. Tommy Franks. Proceeds go to the nonprofit’s mission of supporting military, first responder and civilian burn survivors by providing funding for research. Angelika Film Center is located at 5321 E. Mockingbird. Through Nov. 25 the Dallas Arboretum features Autumn at the Arboretum with 75,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash, plus 150,000 fall blooms, including chrysanthemums and impatiens. Dallas Arboretum is located at 8525 Garland Road. Go to dallasarboretum.org for more. Entrance is $10-$15.

Running through Nov. 14, don’t miss “Jack the Ripper-Monster of Whitechapel,” a play that follows the theater’s melodramatic/comedic/terrorizing style. This show could be too scary for little kids. This Saturday, Nov. 14, Stoney’s Wine Lounge in Lakewood is hosting a musical event featuring HA!Man, a South African cellist who performs “energy of the moment” with Belgian actress/poet Joke (pronounced yo-kah) Debaere. The couple is touring the U.S. and is back at Stoney’s by popular demand. The event is from 8-10:15 p.m. $5 cover per person.

Vickery Meadow Good Local Market will set up shop in the parking lot of the Flagship HPB every Sunday, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The market provides a connection between local farmers, food producers and craftsmen within our community.
