Are you ready for February? This weekend we’ll dip our toes into the season of love. Here are some things going on around town that will help you do it right.
Enjoy a little Puppy Love at Stoney’s Wine Lounge. Buy a “pupcake” for $5 to benefit the S.P.C.A. The event actually goes on all February, but if you go this weekend, you will also have the chance to see the Mike Drake Trio on Friday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., or Flat World Fusion Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Or, grab your guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica or whatever your musical preference is, and join the Open Circle Music Night on Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Also in the name of love, the Bath House Cultural Center is kicking off their 19th annual El Corazon Art Exhibition this Saturday, a show featuring heart-inspired art. Artist Jose Vargas started the show because of a shared fascination with the aesthetics and symbolism of hearts. Call 214-670-8749 or check out their website for more.
The Fort Worth Drawing Center opened its inaugural exhibition, Contemporary Drawing Today, on Jan. 27, and it’s running until March 24. The exhibition features the work of 20 emerging and established artists whose work addresses the issue of traditional parameters concerning drawing today through a variety of mediums, including paper, canvas, digital, etc. Open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
If you’re looking for a place to spend Super Bowl Sunday, Granada Theater is hosting the “Beyonce & The Big Game Watching Party,” on Feb. 3, starting at 5 p.m. So you can let someone else do the cooking and cleaning, AND you can watch the game in HD on a 30-foot screen. Call 214-824-9933 to reserve a spot, or walk-ups are welcome.
Little Bean Shop is having a Valentine’s Sale. All their winter and fall clothes will be 50% off, starting today. See their website for more.
