Tuesday, June 21, marks the longest day and the shortest night of the year, otherwise known as the Summer Solstice. It’s a major celestial event and cause for celebration. The Lab at Lakewood  is offering a one-time opportunity for young-uns to learn about the solstice and explore the solar system. The Summer Solstice night camp is June 21, at The Lab, 5304 Junius, from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Cost is $30 per kid and includes burgers drinks, popsicles and a water balloon brawl — call 214.901.4280 for a spot.

Neighborhood mom, Lindsey Miller (who also happens to run a public relations firm) recently tipped us off to the fun summer classes at The Lab, where she says her boys have had the time of their lives, and sent over some beautiful photos by Kelly Christine Musgraves.

“Summer camps are always sports related,” she notes. “Why not do something different and fun for your kids while also keeping their minds sharp over the summer? It’s inexpensive and perfect for working parents with a 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. daily schedule for only $200 and themes changing every day through the months of June and July.”

Give them goo: colorful slime is central to The Lab experience.

I wrote a little article about The Lab for our Lake Highlands Advocate when Melissa Wright first opened up in Lake Highlands last year. In May she moved the biz to the East Dallas area.
