The sign and vacant building, which once stood on the southeast corner of Greenville and Milton, has been leveled.

My husband and I moved into the neighborhood three years ago, and one of the first things I noticed a couple of blocks away was that vintage-looking sign proclaiming "The Fare". I wondered if it had been some sort of arcade, and learned that, while not exactly that, it was definitely a playground.

Some sort of car audio website touts Dallas as having "some of the best topless bars in the country, as well as the most clubs and dancers per capita of any city I have been to (definitely more than Las Vegas, San Francisco, or LA)." The writer (Walter Martin from Los Angeles; I don’t know how long ago he posted the information) then lists The Fare as the "top titty bar", with "attractive, generally friendly women, with $1 drafts and well drinks until 9 p.m."

Most of the other topless bars Martin lists are/were located in our neighborhood, too. Glad I moved in when I did — or should I say, didn’t move in until I did.

By the way, I don’t know what’s going up where The Fare went down, but I’ll try to check into it.
