When neighborhood resident Jack Teter needed a larger location for Teters Faucet Parts Center, he drove all over Dallas looking at properties.

But when all was said and done, Jack moved his plumbing repair supply business about a block from his old location at 2025 Abrams Parkway to the old Southwestern Bell Building at 6337 Oram.

“I wanted to stay close to home,” Teter says. “It’s neat to stand behind the counter and see people you went to Woodrow with.”

Teter grew up in the neighborhood and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1965. His father, Maurice, attended Woodrow the first year it opened and started Teter Plumbing Co. at the Abrams Parkway location in 1947, the year Jack was born.

As a matter of fact, Jack even bowled at the bowling alley that was the original business in the building Teters now occupies.

Teter took over the business in 1980. Even after his retirement, Teter’s father frequently stopped by the business until the day he died several years ago, Teter says.

Prior to taking over the company, Teter worked as an accountant. He took the knowledge he learned from the businesses he worked with and his father’s guidance and continued to expand the company.

“I think it’s because my father built a good reputation,” Jack says. “Whatever you need, Teters has it.”
